Memorial of Chhingpui is a memorial stone raised in the memory of a
beautiful young woman called Chhingpui in a place between Baktawng and
Chhingchhip village on the Aizawl-Lunglei road in the northeastern state of
MIzoram in India. Chhingpui came from a noble family and was extraordinarily
beautiful. From among the many suitors wanting to marry her, Chhingpui
selected Kaptuanga as her husband and married him. But her happiness was
short-lived, as a war broke out between the rival chiefs. Chhingpui was
kidnapped and killed. For days all the villagers mourned her death.
Kaptuanga could not bear the loss and killed himself. Memorial of Chhingpui,
the stone memorial reminds one of the legendary love story of Chhingpuii and
Kaptluanga.
