Tashiding Monastery in Sikkim lies on the top of a hill that looms up between the Rathong river and the Rangit river with the back drop of the sacred Mt. Khang-chen-Dzonga. Built in the year 1717 by Ngadak Sempa Chembo during the reign of the third Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal, Tashiding Monastery Sikkim is another important monastery belonging to the Nyingmapa order.There are also many chortans dedicated to some Chogyals and some religious personalities of Sikkim. Carved skillfully on stone plates surrounding the monastery are holly Buddhist mantras like "Om Mane Padme Hum" by the master crafts man Yanchong Lodil.
The sacred ceremony of Bumchu is held here at midnight of the 14th & 15th of the first Tibetan month. It is a religious tradition unique to Tashiding Monastery only. Journey to Tashiding Monastery (Sikkim)

Airport : Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal is 140 kms away from Yuksam. There is Daily flight from Delhi and Calcutta. The Bagdogra airport is connected to Gangtok by a helicopter service operating between Gangtok - Bagdogra - Gangtok.
Railhead : Two nearest railway station are at Siliguri (114 km) and New Jalpaiguri (125 km) from Gangtok, stabilizing link to Calcutta, Delhi, Guwahati, Lucknow and other important cities in India. Gyalshing is about 140 km from Gangtok. And, Gyalshing is about 40 km from the Tashiding Monastery (Sikkim).
Road Transport : Yuksam is well linked with all the major district of Sikkim, state West Bengal, Bhutan Border and Nepal Border. Siliguri, the main base city from where one can get various transport to Sikkim is 140 kms away. There is a bus service from Gyalshing to Tashiding. One can reach Gyalshing via Yuksam, Pelling, Yuksam or Geyzing. Yuksam is connected with all road with Siliguri, Kalimpong, Gangtok etc. Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim is connected by all weather road to Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri and also to all the District headquarters within Sikkim.

A trekkers hut is available for the tourist at Tashiding. There are only few hotels and restaurant in Yuksam, which is close to the Tashiding Monastery. The hotels available here serves both local and Indian delicacies. They also provide lodging facilities for the visitors. You can also stay in Gangtok for better quality accommodation, from where you can easily reach Tashiding Monastery in Sikkim by road.
